Contact details for the tourism inspectors
I’ve had an email through the website from someone seeing the contact details for the tourism inspectors. I’ve tried to reply but I’m getting a permanent failure message when I try to reply.
The government department that is co-ordinating the campaign against illegal letting is the Dirección General de Ordenación y Promoción Turistica in Santa Cruz. Within that department, you need the “Servicio de inspección y sanciones” section, whose phone number is 922 475 477
Man in critical condition after heart attack in Avenida de Suecia, Los Cristianos
An 88-year-old man, said to be a foreigner in Spain, is in critical condition, but alive, after suffering a heart attack in Avenida de Suecia in Los Cristianos shortly after 2pm this afternoon. Emergency services were called out with reports that a man had collapsed and that some members of the public had tried to resuscitate him. When the paramedics arrived, they found him in cardiac arrest and succeeded in reviving him. He was then transferred to Hospitén Sur where he remains in critical condition.
La Laguna lawyer held by police for investigation into fraud and money-laundering
A lawyer, named by the local papers as Evaristo González Reyes, who is also a well-known businessman in north Tenerife – apart from his legal practice he has nightclubs and bars – is in police custody after his office was searched yesterday while investigations into money-laundering and fraud continue. His legal team strenuously deny the accusations, and say that the same allegations have already been dismissed by the Courts. They say, moreover, that the search of his offices was procedurally “irregular”.
