Tapas and culture for just €3 every Thursday during May and June in La Laguna

For many, it doesn’t take much of an incentive to visit the beautiful town of La Laguna, and one such motivation is now the offer of tapas and culture every Thursday during May and June in 41 restaurants in the historic centre for just €3. The offer applies every Thursday except fiesta days, and each of the participating establishments will have a placard clearly placed outside.  There is more information on the Facebook page La Laguna en directo tapa y cultura, with a map to plan a route and menus. Apart from the tapas, there will be theatrical and musical entertainments in the streets of the town, which is a delight at the best of times, let alone when it offers events like this.

Drinking water warning issued for weekend in several areas of Puerto de la Cruz

Update 8 May: It’s a couple of weeks now since a tap water warning was issued to the La Vera, Las Arenas, San Antonio, Taoro and Las Dehesas areas of Puerto de la Cruz, and the situation still seems to be generally unclear. Yesterday afternoon, Aqualia installed four water tanks for residents affected by the restriction on drinking water, one in each of the affected areas. They are placed at the plaza de Las Adelfas in Las Dehesas, the sports centre in San Antonio, the camino de La Sortija in Taoro, and the plaza de la Casa Azul in Las Arenas: water has been available from them since 7.30pm last evening for residents’ use. It appears that the restriction now depends on the repair of the La Vera reservoir in La Montaña and the construction of a bypass pipe to carry its water to the four areas. Technicians are to come from the mainland to co-ordinate the project and to attempt to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
