The CajaMar Tenerife Bluetrail mountain race on Saturday, 10 June, is billed as the highest race in Spain and the second highest in Europe, and it’s cerainly one of the most gruelling events around. It’s organised by the Tenerife Cabildo, and Tenerife President Carlos Alonso said in today’s official presentation that some 2,700 runners from 33 countries will be taking part this year to run up, over, and around Mt Teide.

There is a range of “modalities” so that everyone can take part … everyone, that is, who is into mountain running and extreme sports! The event has an official website HERE with details for those who would like to sign up to take part, and for those, perhaps the majority, who will be interested to watch the races from the sidelines.

On 8 and 9 June there will be a two day exposition in the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz where those taking part can pick up their shirt numbers while enjoying activities at some 40 stands, and talks from a range of prestigious sportsmen and women, as well as sports health professionals.

Cajamar Tenerife Bluetrail 2017 is sponsored by the Fundación Cajamar Canarias and Turismo de Tenerife, as well as receiving corporate backing from Physiorelax, Radio Club Tenerife-Cadena SER, Hospiten, Fonteide, Isola, Volkswagen Comerciales Canarias, TITSA, Cooperativa Fast, Nutrisport, QRV Emergencias, Naviera Armas and Iberia.
