Updated 2 September: Emergency services say that a 19-year-old Italian cyclist is in hospital with multiple injuries after falling down a barranco shortly after 5pm today near Arico. He was transferred by helicopter to Candelaria Hospital where his condition is said to be serious.

Original post 31 August: The 61st Cycling Tour of Tenerife will be held this weekend, Friday to Sunday, 2-4 September. It will means some roads affected, specifically that roads will be closed to public traffic when the leading pack is due: the full timetables can be seen HERE. In general, though:

Friday, 2nd:
Sector 1: from 10am – TF-247 (Candelaria).
Sector 2: from 3.20pm – TF-28 (between Candelaria & Arico), TF-625 (TF-28 to Poris de Abona), TF-627 (Poris to Arico) and TF-245 (La Hidalga to Arafo).

Saturday, 3rd:
From 3.20pm – TF-217 (between El Sauzal & La Orotava), TF-211 (La Orotava), TF-326 (Santa Cruz – Benijos), TF-21 (to Boca Tauce), TF-38 (Boca Tauce – Chio) and TF-82 (between Chío & Tamaimo).

Sunday, 4th:
From 9.55am – TF-42 (between Buenavista & Icod), TF-5 (between Icod & Los Realejos), TF-320 (San Nicolás – la Zamora), TF-31 (Puerto de la Cruz access via Martianez), TF-217 (between Las Cuevas & La Victoria), TF-217 (La Matanza – Puerto de la Cruz), TF-5 (heading Santa Cruz between La Victoria & La Matanza), TF-172 (El Sauzal), TF-152 (from El Sauzal to Portezuelo), TF-154 (El Portezuelo – Tegueste) and TF-13 (between Tegueste & La Laguna).
