An 80-year-old Belgian cyclist was killed shortly before half past nine this morning when he was knocked down by a car on the TF66 near the Palm Mar-El Fraile roundabout. Emergency services say that they received several calls about the accident, reporting that the cyclist had been injured. Sadly, however, despite the efforts of paramedics to stabilize him and transfer him to Candelaria hospital, he died this afternoon from the injuries he received. The Guardia Civil are investigating, and as yet there is no confirmed information about the car involved other than it was a red Clio-sized vehicle which stopped at the scene.
