It’s the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, and apart from Adeje council celebrating the bard during April’s Ferio de Libro, the Adeje Municipal Theatre Group are staging a performance this Friday, 8 July, of El sueño de una noche de verano (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). The performance starts at 8.30 in the Cultural Centre auditorium (where the recent Brexit info event was held), and entrance is free. Please note that it will be performed in Spanish.
The play was first staged in 1595 and is considered one of theatre’s classic comedies. This version has been adapted from the original by David Martín and directed by Laura Marrero and is just one of the activities the borough has hosted to mark the 400th Anniversary of the death of the Bard. With the participation of the local municipal school of music and dance (EMMA), “this work will bring a touch of modernity and a singular perspective to this theatrical classic”, says councillor for creative development, Adolfo Alonso Ferrera.
