It’s an annual series of classical concerts in Tenerife with a difference. The tenth International Cinema Music Festival (Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife – FIMUCITÉ) starts in the Los Cristianos Auditorio Infanta Leonor at 8.30pm on Friday, 23 September, with Lalo Schifrin’s Jazz goes to Hollywood. Among many famous films, the concert will include music from Mission Impossible, Cool Hand Luke, Once a Thief, Bullitt, and Enter The Dragon.
Subsequent concerts over the following week up to 1 October will be held in Teatro Guimerá, the ULL auditorium, and the main Santa Cruz auditorium itself. Themes include 70s films like Saturday Night Fever and Grease; films about heroes such as Superman and Batman (and even Scooby Doo!); and space opera, including Star Wars and Flash Gordon. The final concert will be dedicated to the music of Howard Shore, and so includes The Fly, Gangs of New York, Silence of the Lambs, and of course, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
There’s a dedicated website HERE with links to buy tickets – available now from as little as €5 – and for the full programmes for all the concerts and the composers, and much more besides.
