First snows of Teide in 2013

Update 20 February: I’ve mentioned before about closed roads that maintenance teams were “working to clear” them, and I thought it would be interesting to show what this actually means in terms of Teide access roads since the Cabildo has released the above picture of work yesterday morning on the TF21 and 24.

Update 3pm: And now the TF24 La Esperanza road is opened too. All roads clear and open.
Update 1.20pm: The TF21 La Orotava-Teide road has now been reopened, though the TF24 through La Esperanza remains closed for the time being.
Original post: After a rather stormy evening and night, Teide is wearing the first snows of 2013. It was so windy that we feared the snow wouldn’t settle, and indeed today is lovely and warm so it’s unlikely the snow will last, but for the moment, Teide is white! The snow, indeed, has resulted in a couple of road closures through ice on the carriageway. The TF-21 and 24 access roads via La Orotava and La Esperanza are closed while road maintenance teams work. They are expected to reopen by the end of the morning.
Teide looks absolutely fabulous. We will be arriving in Tenerife on Wednesday. Altamira is holding its annual meeting so we want to here the latest updates.
