Los Cristianos Carnaval 1-11 March

Update 18 February: A reader has kindly pointed out that although the programme shows the coso on Sunday, 10 March, as starting at 10.30am, this is in fact the start of the day with the exhibition of old cars. The parade itself, which I imagine is the event that most will want to go to see, is scheduled to start at 5pm. It starts at Paloma Beach apartments (almost directly opposite the Arona Gran hotel) and will parade up Avenida Juan Carlos I past the Princesa Dácil hotel, left down Avenida Ámsterdam towards the Cultural Centre, and then on down Calle General Franco to Church Square.
Original post 16 February: Apart from the main carnival in Santa Cruz, two other very popular Carnavals take place in Los Cristianos and Puerto de la Cruz. There are, of course, many more, but these two are of particularly great local interest. The Puerto de la Cruz carnival finishes tomorrow (as previously posted HERE) so there’s only one day more of it: the programme is HERE.
Los Cristianos’ carnival is between 1 and 11 March, and this year’s theme is that of the most famous Carnaval of them all: Brazil. The details and programme are below (further information on Arona’s website HERE). There is more information on these and other Carnaval events throughout the Canaries from the official Canary Islands Tourism site HERE.
