Update 28 September: Following the huge success of the past three events, the increasingly popular Ten-Diez Movement returns for a fourth time. Founded by Mark Fradley, Ten-Diez is a collective of several nationalities who share a genuine passion for creativity, art and expression. This year the event is being held in one of Tenerife’s most strikingly creative hotels – Baobab Suites, Costa Adeje. With its modern design and innovative concept, Baobab Suites is the perfect complement to the event and one of the finest examples of creativity in the Canaries.
In keeping with the key philosophy of Ten Diez, that of giving local-based talent a platform to showcase their work and to bring this element of art, culture and creativity closer to the general public, entrance is free for the 6-week event, which starts on Saturday 3rd October. Doors will open at 11am, with the official opening starting at 8pm.
As the event has been brought together with the full backing of the Adeje Council, the opening celebration will feature a brief presentation by the Ten-Diez team as well as a welcome from Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, Adeje’s councillor for creative development and awareness. This will be followed by the Creative Art Awards, where the three most outstanding artists, selected by a panel of judges, will each be presented with a trophy. As in previous years, the event is sponsored by Canon, GoPro and Lucroit as well as a number of other local companies.
This year, over 225 artists applied to take part. The 41 selected to exhibit their work are: Adrian Rodriguez; Andy McLeod; Ángel Domínguez de León; Bárbara Jerez Perdomo; Cameron Gardner; Cris Díaz Jorge; Dan Osorio; David Malledo; Domingo Negrín; Eliecer Labory; Elvi P. Quintero; Estela García; Jaime Morro; Javier Gea; Jesús Duque Cranny; Jesús Martín; Johanna Kegel Zamora; Jorge Bonet; Juan Hernández (El Patrón Chico); Kristy Peréz; Laura R Grandal; Lyu Lazarov; Margarita Veloso; Max Mala; Mireia Tramunt; Nayra Rojas Rodríguez; Nazareth Hernández Gutiérrez; Nitgard; Ohiane de Felipe García; Phil Crean; Raquel Mesa; Raúl García García; Rebeca Heredero Moreno; Saioa Arellano; Sheila Álvarez; Silvia Medina; Tatiana Suárez; Toto Morin; Verónica Melo and Yasmin Ferreras, who all bring a unique vision and talent to what promises to be a dynamic, colourful celebration of the wonderful talent we have living on these islands.
As well as being able to see a huge range of photography, sculptures, visual arts and illustrations, visitors will also be able to enjoy live music, interesting workshops and informative talks as well as enjoy an exhibition by Film Canary Islands and a fascinating display of antique cameras and 8mm film projections by Jorge Sosa Campos from Brocante Arte & Antigüedades.
The 2015 event is especially dedicated to the memory of gifted local artist Dayana Dominguez, the wife of one of the region’s best known and most talented graffiti artists, Matias Sabotajealmontaje, who sadly passed away in January 2015 at the age of 40. A selection of Dayana’s work will be on exhibition as a tribute.
