South Tenerife man arrested on suspicion of murdering missing wife: body found in El Roque
Update 11 July, 11 am: He is now accused of her murder. Some further details have come out. They lived in Valle San Lorenzo, and had two young children, both of whom lived at home with them. The victim had made no prior denuncias for abuse. As might be expected from the ample blood stains found in the family car, the poor woman’s body showed significant signs of violence, and was wrapped in a sheet.
She had worked in a crystal jewellery shop in Reina Sofía airport, and shocked co-workers said she was an extremely responsible employee who usually opened up the premises. It was her co-workers who were the first to become alarmed when she didn’t turn up for work because it was so unlike her. They rang her home, and her killer answered. It was his denial of knowledge but apparent lack of interest in her whereabouts that raised their suspicions.
It appears that their concern worried him enough that he decided to report her “disappearance” to the Guardia Civil de Playa de las Américas, where he was identified as “very nervous”, suspiciously so. This is why the police started searching the family’s property and effects, and where traces of blood were found on the garage floor, and inside the boot of the family car.
The now accused killer is said to be a musician who plays in a group resident in a hotel in the south of Tenerife. He had claimed that the blood found was from a cut caused by one of his instruments. He later changed his story to say that he found his wife almost dead when he arrived home, the victim of a burglary. This is why he decided to put her in the boot of his car and dump her body … El Dia
