Taxi drivers to strike in April against illegal transport services, particularly “airport runs”

Some 2,100 taxi drivers in the Canaries have announced strike action in April in protest at the continued intrusion of unlicensed vehicles taking their business, particularly on airport runs. The action has been announced for 15, 16 and 17 April throughout the islands with the exception of El Hierro.

Drivers say they are particularly infuriated by the continued inaction of the authorities and their failure to come up with a solution to the problem caused by illegal transport operators in the archipelago. It is likely that these three days will be followed by further actions through the summer.  PV
