Tenerife Christmas cultural programmes 2010

As every year, all municipalities in Tenerife will be holding their own Programa de Navidad, offering a range of social, cultural and religious events and entertainments for Christmas. All the websites of the local authorities will have links and information of their Christmas programmes.

Adeje’s started on Friday 10, and runs until 5 January. Events include a cultural-social Christmas fayre in Calle Grande between 6.30 and 11pm on Saturday 18 December; a Christmas Concert in the Parque Jardín Botánico in Las Nieves at 8pm on Sunday, 19 December; a New Year party starting at 11pm in the plaza de San Sebastián (La Caleta); and the arrival of the Kings by helicopter on 5 January at 5pm in the football field before parading through Adeje to Calle Grande at 7.30pm. In the north, La Laguna says it’s going to bring magic to the town again, and it certainly looks as though it will be transformed into a social-religious-cultural hive of activity throughout the Christmas period, with street entertainments for all ages and styles, religious and cultural events taking place in all public buildings and squares, as well as drama and concerts in the Teatro Leal. Santa Cruz, as the capital, often leads events, and has the main Kings parade of all those that take place throughout Tenerife on 5 January.
