Updated 15 March: Adeje Ayuntamiento has announced a cycle of sacred music concerts in the run up to Easter Week. The concerts will be performed in the Santa Úrsula church in the town centre and the San José church in Los Olivos. Entry is free and the first two performances will also feature members of the EMMA (School of Music and Movement) chamber music orchestra.
The first concert is this Saturday, 18 March, at 8.30pm in the San José church, and the second on Friday, 24 March, at 7pm in the Santa Úrsula church. The third concert, on Saturday, 25 March, at 12.30pm in the Santa Úrsula church will feature the EMMA junior choir, and at 7pm that day, in the same church, there will be a performance of the Regina Coeli for soprano.
The last concert in the cycle takes place on 1 April at 7pm in the Convento de San Francisco with the Adeje Patron Municipal band and will be followed by the inauguration of an exhibition and the presentation of the Easter Week poster and other related programmes.
Original post 9 March: Easter is a huge occasion in Tenerife generally, and Ayuntamientos pull out all the stops to offer full programmes for a week that is pivotal to Christian belief. La Laguna’s is the first to be announced, and it’s HERE. I’ll update with others as I come across them.
