Tenerife president Carlos Alonso says that TFS will finally have its second terminal in 2021. Works will start next year, after monies were confirmed today by the national Public Works minister, Ana Pastor, with over €120m coming from Aena alone. President Alonso said he was very satisfied with the announcement after Tenerife initially believed it had been left out with money for developments and improvements going instead to Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and El Hierro airports. The new terminal will expand the southern airport’s capacity by more than 30%.

  1. Is a second terminal really needed? There seems to already be a second arrivals hall that is very rarely used.
