A 4-year-old British boy was rescued after nearly drowning yesterday afternoon in an Adeje hotel swimming pool. Emergency services say that the child was rescued from the pool by the lifeguard who was in the process of resuscitating him. Paramedics stabilized the little boy at the scene and transferred him to Hospiten Sur where his condition is thankfully said not to be serious.

And this afternoon, just before 2pm, paramedics were again in action in the Adeje area, this time at Playa de Ajabo in Callao Salvaje, when they were called out to assist a 66-year-old man who had had a cardiac arrest in the sea. After some time, paramedics managed to resuscitate him and after stabilizing him, transferred him too to Hospitén Sur where his condition is said to be serious.

Mercifully this man is alive, but far too many have died while swimming from a cardiac arrest, which is a symptom of cold water shock. Please see HERE for staying safe in Tenerife’s waters.
