A fire in a Unelco station in the La Union barranco in Tijoco Bajo this evening cut off electricity supplies to the village for some hours while firemen and Policía Local worked to extinguish the blaze. Adeje Ayuntamiento says that it will take a couple of hours for repairs to be completed and for the supply to be fully and safely restored.READ MORE

Travel Tenerife, who were named Luxury Travel Guide’s Tenerife Tour Operator of the year last November, are creating an Astronomy and Science Centre in south Tenerife. The centre will be in the old reception building of Island Village and the team is hoping to have the first stage of the project open by May. At this point they are in the process of gathering sponsors and investors. Travel Tenerife says that their main aim at the moment is to open the upper floor which will house the biggest telescope openly available to the public in Europe. San Miguel Ayuntamiento has announced that due to the large number of complaints they’ve received through the council’s new app, the borough’s Policía Local are starting a speed control campaign with radar equipment provided by Tráfico. Police will be checking speeds of traffic on the busiest roads in the municipality, and the council says it is determined to reinforce traffic safety in urban areas.READ MORE
