An 82-year-old German holidaymaker died yesterday afternoon after drowning in the pool of the Puerto de la Cruz hotel in which he was staying. Emergency services say that they were called out to the hotel in Calle Aceviño shortly after 5pm with reports that the man had been pulled out of the pool and that attempts were being made to resuscitate him. These efforts were continued by medical personnel attending the incident but sadly, all efforts failed and he was declared dead at the scene.READ MORE

A 45-year-old man died yesterday after his tractor overturned while he was working his finca in the Las Llanadas agricultural area of Los Realejos. Emergency services say that they were called out around 5pm with reports that the man was trapped in the vehicle, but sadly medical personnel who attended the incident could do nothing but confirm his death at the scene from the serious injuries he had suffered.  READ MORE

A kamikaze driver caused chaos on the TF5 tonight, including three accidents. The worst of it happened on the notorious El Sauzal bend, known to be a blackspot in its own right without help from drivers on the wrong side of the road. Enquiries are continuing tonight, but it seems that thankfully and miraculously no-one was killed even though two occupants of one of the other three vehicles are in hospital. A 58-year-old woman who was knocked down as a car left a garage in Santa Cruz has died, police say. The incident happened in Calle de Legazpi, a small street parallel to Calle Tome Cano, where Tráfico is in the capital. The woman was initially taken to hospital in serious condition after the accident on Friday morning, but sadly around 7.30pm last evening she succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the collision.READ MORE
