Update 5 April: Just a reminder that this event is being held this Sunday. If anyone’s wondering what to do over the weekend, this could be a very good opportunity to head over to Las Galletas.
Update 30 January 2013: Arona Ayuntamiento has opened registration for participation in the annual Las Galletas Half Marathon. The 17th run will be on Sunday, 7 April starting at 9am, and those who want to take part can sign up between 1 February and 31 March, providing only that they’re over 18 and in good health. Categories are:
- Men: Senior and veterans M35, M40, M45, M50, M55, M60 y M65.
- Women: Senior and veterans F35, F40, F45, F50 y F55.
Despite classifications, prizes will be awarded in strict order of arrival independent of category. The course for the half marathon is 21.97.5km on the route TF 6222, TF 6225 and TF 6221, with carriages closed for traffic during the race. There will also be a shorter race of 10.8km at the same time along the same route.
Inscription will cost €18, or €15 for affiliates, who sign up before 28 February, and €23/20 for those who do so in March. To register, visit the official website www.mediomaratonlasgalletas.com
Update 30 March: Some 900 athletes will participate in this race on Sunday. Of these, 580 will take part in the marathon proper, while 260 will run the half circuit of 10.8 kilometres. The president of Arona Ayuntamiento’s Patronato de Deportes, Mónica Sierra, said she was gratified by the high number of participants, breaking last year’s record of 800 runners.
Original post 12 March: Arona Ayuntamiento, sponsored by the Tenerife Cabildo, has opened registration for participation in the annual Las Galletas Half Marathon. The 16th run will be on 1 April starting at 9am, and those who want to take part can now sign up, providing only that they’re over 18 and in good health.
Places are limited to 800 runners, and registration is open until 26 March via the official website HERE, or in the Complejo Polideportivo ‘Jesús Domínguez El Grillo’ in Los Cristianos, Guzmán Sport in La Laguna, or Mundi Sport in Puerto de la Cruz. Registration will cost €18, or €15 for affiliates.
The course is a total of 21km 97.5m along the TF 6222, TF 6225 & TF 6221. There will also be a parallel run of 10.8km. All roads will be closed to traffic during the race. The categories are:
Men: senior and veterans M35, M40, M45, M50, M55, M60 & M65.
Women: senior and veterans F35, F40, F45, F50 & F55. Prizes will be awarded in strict order of finishing regardless of sex or category.
