Adeje launches ayuntamiento app

Always among the first, Adeje, and now the council has launhed an app which is compatible with IOS and Android devices and which offers a range of user-friendly information. The app is free and can be found HERE, or by using ‘Adeje’ as the search word. It will offer information (in Spanish) about the council and the borough, local job offers, traffic information and diversions, late night and weekend chemists, etc.

The councillors responsible for the app, Epifanio Díaz Hernández and Carmen Rosa González Cabrera, say that they “consider it an important communication tool for the people of the borough.” They stressed that Adeje has “a range of excellent information channels open to the public 365 days a year, through facebook, twitter, Google +, our webpage, Instagram etc. All these are working well and now we have added one more. This app will bring together relevant information and not just from the council, but also will incorporate information from other bodies – such as chemist and health centres”.

Councillor Díaz Hernández told press that a team of technical staff had been working on the app for a number of months. Developed by Inventia Plus S.L. it has been adapted to the needs of the Adeje borough with specialists in the field of information, programming, design and journalism from the council working together. “Since July of this year 30 people have been using a prototype of the app in Adeje and have tested it and given us feedback to help us improve the service prior to the launch”, he said.

Those who wish to download the app will be asked to register and they can then chose what information they wish to receive. “We don’t want to bombard people with information, so we are allowing people chose, although there will be some general alerts – traffic diversions, weather alerts or power cuts for instance – which will be sent to all users”, said the councillor for central services.

The app is also two-way; Adeje’s residents can communicate with the council via the app alerting them to incidents or problems by message or photo. “We promise to deal, as best we can, with what is sent to us. This will be a particularly useful tool in this regard as council personnel cannot be everywhere at any given time and this way the public can assist in improving the borough”.
