Adeje Councillor Desiderio Afonso Ruiz has hosted a guided tour, in English, of some of the town’s old historic buildings. The group of foreign residents, mostly British and Belgian from Callao Salvaje, visited the Fort House, the Santa Ursula Church, the Convento, the Plaza de España and the Canarian library. All agreed that that event, which lasted just under 2 hours, was excellent and had helped them to learn more than a few unknown facts about their new home. The councillor also gave attendees a gift of a book on the history of the San Sebastián fiestas and two prints of the town in the days before tourism and industry. The council says that this was a pilot project and with feedback being so positive, it is likely that the event will be repeated, and in other languages too.
