Once again, Adeje is holding a Summer University photo competition, where the winning entry will be used as the main image for posters, brochures, merchandising, official literature and publicity. Last year’s competition and winner is HERE, for an idea of the type of image that won with the theme of knowledge. Entrants have twenty days from the publication of the event in the BOP, the official provincial bulletin, to present their work.
Cultural councillor Nayra Bethencourt says, “We are letting people know in advance so they can begin to prepare their entries and have enough time to elaborate their creative ideas on the chosen theme”, which this year is light – as Bethencourt explains, “2015 is the international year of light and light based technologies (IYL2015) and we thought it would be opportune to use this idea”.
Again there will be prizes, with the winning entrant taking home €400, with €200 for the runner up. In parallel there will also be an exhibition of the top photographs presented to the jury. Originality will be a major consideration when picking a winner, and entries may consist of just one photograph or a series of three on a particular theme – the only criterion is that they are related to light. Entries should be submitted with no borders or margins on photographic paper and may be mounted on cardboard that is the same size as the photograph with a number and name on the back. The full set of rules and regulations will be printed shortly in the BOP.
