Aena advises passengers to check flights before travelling due to French ATC strike

Aena is advising passengers to check with their airlines before travelling because of some low level disruption caused by a French air traffic controllers’ strike. Some 32 flights between Spain and France have been cancelled and delays and problems for others which have to cross French air space are considered possible. The strike is supposed to last until Thursday.

Yes, there are negotiations this weekend to try to avert it, and no news yet about how they’ve gone. European ATC says that if a strike goes ahead, travellers can expect major delays with up to 30% cancellations.

It does seem that they’re going ahead with industrial action between 6pm (UTC) today, 17 March, to 5am (UTC) 19 March. Disruptions and cancellations are now expected. I’ll post more details if I get them.
