Update 6 April: TThere has been another armed hold up in the Costa del Silencio, this time on the Hotel Marino. It was attacked at 5am yesterday morning by a man who threatened the receptionist with a gun and fled on foot with between 300 and 700 Euros. It is thought possible that it is the same man, believed to be a Romanian, who held up a nearby travel agency recently, as posted below, and it is also being considered possible that it is linked to recent attacks on pharmacies in Los Cristianos and San Isidro. Original post 26 March: Las Américas Guardia Civil are seeking the perpetrator of an armed attack on a travel agency around 2pm yesterday afternoon in the El Chaparral urbanization, in Costa del Silencio. The thief, who had not covered his face, threatened the staff with a gun and started to make off with a considerable amount in Sterling as well as several hundred Euros.
What he had not expected, however, was to be confronted by several individuals as he was leaving the premises. Facing these individuals, who displayed some courage, it must be said, he fired into the air and fled, in the confusion, in a white Seat Ibiza in the direction of the TF1. From the debris left from his shots, it is clear that he was firing blanks, but clearly this could not have been known at the time. Roadblocks were immediately set up but for the moment the thief is still at large. PV
