It’s surely no coincidence given that elections are about to be held, but whatever the reason, residents in the Armeñime area will have cause to celebrate the opening this Monday of a local surgery which will serve the Mar Azul, Callao Salvaje, Playa Paraíso, Tijoco, La Concepción, Taucho, La Quinta, Los Menores, Las Rozas and Armeñime areas.
The Consejería de Sanidad del Gobierno de Canarias and Adeje Ayuntamiento confirmed the news about the surgery yesterday. It will provide four family doctors, two children’s doctors, and a nurse. Emergencies will continue to be seen at Adeje health centre.
The surgery has been promised for four years, and Sanidad said that the delay was due to administrative problems getting an electricity supply, hinting that the responsibility was attributable to the Ayuntamiento. Nonetheless, it is now to be opened at last, after works costing €1,129,000. It will be open Mondays to Fridays, between 8am and 8pm. DA
