Artisan fairs are a regular event throughout Tenerife, and they are always well attended, with people browsing and buying the products of some really creative and talented individuals, all of whom are officially recognized with an artisan card, a carné de artesano (link). Many of these fairs are held in the autumn, and this year, for example, two very popular ones are Vilaflor’s on 25 August and Guía de Isora’s on 9 September. One of the biggest, and now quite a famous one, is in Pinolere, an ethnographic museum village above La Orotava, and every year more than 200 artisans and crafters take part: this year’s fair is Friday to Sunday, 31 August to 2 September: for more about Pinolere, see HERE.
There are also arts and crafts fairs in Güímar 7-8 September, in El Sauzal 15-16 September, Tacoronte 23 September, La Matanza 6-7 October, Santa Ursula 12 October, and Adeje 16-18 November. The main Canaries-wide arts and crafts fair held shortly before Christmas alternates between the two province capitals and this year will be in Las Palmas, but the actual Christmas fairs will be shared between Tenerife’s new and old capitals, as every year, and so the Feria Artesanía en Reyes will be in the Plaza del Príncipe in Santa Cruz and the Mercado Navideño de Artesanía in the Plaza del Adelantado in La Laguna between 2 and 5 January.
