A British man is under arrest after throwing “salfumán” (hydrochloric acid/Agua fuerte) in the face of a Guardia Civil officer who knocked on his door to investigate a report of domestic violence in Amarilla Golf. The officer, thankfully accompanied by a colleague, has an injured eye but is otherwise fine as a result of his fellow-officer’s quick reaction to wash the acid off his face.
The suspect took advantage of the distraction to flee, but was arrested shortly afterwards trying to hitch a lift at the local health centre. He now has charges to face not only of domestic violence, but assault on an officer of the law. LO
