The Tenerife Cabildo is to invest €10.2 million in improving the TF-2, the motorway which goes past IKEA and links the TF1 and the TF5. The road has long been considered a death trap, and was so badly affected by the heavy rains in February that the surface was filled with potholes making the inside lane virtually unusable.
The works that are now going out to tender will involve the resurfacing of a 4.4 km stretch in both carriageways, the introduction of road safety signs and lights, slip-road improvements, and environmental enhancements with some 2,000 plants. Works will have a completion date of 12 months from commencement. DA
