To say we’ve had a bad calima is putting it mildly! It has been widely complained about, with many reporting chest congestion, stinging eyes, and difficulty in breathing, and so on. And yesterday, there came scientific confirmation from the Spanish National Research Council that while the recommended exposure for public health to calima dust is 50 ug (micrograms) per cubic metre, we’ve been experiencing 940 ug/m3 … nearly 20 times the healthy limit. That was the maximum recorded on Tuesday just gone. Thankfully, today we have a bit of cloud cover and the calima is very much passing. But last night, we had this sunset … the dust in the atmosphere is so bad for so many things but for sunsets, it’s a gift!
