Updated 28 August: Sadly, it has been confirmed that the body found by hunters on a La Hoya hillside is that of Chelo Alonso. An autopsy will now be carried out to try to establish the cause of death.
Updated 27 August: A body has been found in a remote area of Punta del Hidalgo and it is feared, by the clothing, to be that of Chelo Alonso, who disappeared from La Laguna on 4 August. Emergency services say that Local and National Police are at the scene but Bomberos are needed because the area in which the body was discovered is very difficult to access. More follows.
Original post 6 August: Eusebio Alonso Morín, known as Chelo Alonso, has been missing from his home in Punta del Hidalgo, in La Laguna municipality, since Friday. He suffers from Alzheimer’s, and is in need of medicaation. He is 1.8m (5′ 9″) tall, and when last seen he was wearing a blue tracksuit and a check shirt. The search is being co-ordinated by the Emergency Services and includes a GES land Search and Rescue Unit, Proteccion Civil, and police.
