Canarian Government issues costeros alert from 11pm tonight – take care near the sea!

The Canarian Government’s Securities and Emergencies Board has declared an alert for costeros (wild coastal conditions) from 11pm tonight affecting the north coast of Tenerife as well as of the north and west coast of La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. The DGSE says that strong winds of up to Force 6 are expected with a sea swell of some 4.5m. The official advice is to avoid the sea in these areas and to take extreme caution around the coast.
