The Canarian Government has launched an online platform for the public to watch movies, series and documentaries. The eFILM digital platform will allow the loan of audiovisuals through the library network (Red de Bibliotecas de Canarias – BICA) and providing access to more than 11,000 films, documentaries and series via streaming, meaning the programmes can be viewed online without being downloaded onto a physical computer.
The Government’s Culture Minister Aurelio González said that “we added this cinematographic platform to eBiblio Canarias to complete our digital media offer. And so, as well as books and magazines, audiobooks and, recently, reference and consultation works, we would like to offer the general public the ability to access a variety of ways of enjoying a number of titles via the BICA Network. The collection will increase as new titles are added to the platform.”
The audiovisual platform is one of the first to be implemented in Spain, and can be accessed HERE. Conditions are the same as for eBiblio Canarias, namely being a user of any of the public libraries in the Canaries, and providing an email address. Anyone not already registered in the network can do so either in person at their nearest library or online HERE.
