Consumers advised not to eat Panga more than once a week after contaminants found

Panga is quite a popular fish here, not least because it’s really quite inexpensive compared to, say, salmon or hake, but the OCU (Organización de consumidores y usuarios – consumers and users organization) recommends that it should not be eaten more than once a week because mercury and the pesticide trifluralin have been found in it. The OCU says that the quantities are not high enough to pose a health risk, and not uniformly in all specimens tested, but sufficient to warrant advice not to eat the fish more than once a week.
