Elderly man drowns in El Médano

A swimmer died this morning at El Médano. Emergency services say that they were called out around 9am after the man, thought to be in his 70s, was pulled unconscious from the water by lifeguards and found to be in cardiac arrest. Sadly, however, all efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, and he was declared dead at the scene.
