Updated 16 April: Organizers say that in addition to the 13 concerts in the programme, this festival, which starts this Thursday in the Plaza de la Pescadora on the harbour promenade in Los Cristianos, will have dance, music therapy and vocalist workshops, masterclasses for saxophone, string instruments and percussion, plus several activities shared with the 2018 Urban Art Festival, which will take place in parallel.
Festival Jazz Roja was conceived as a means to consolidate the extreme and diverse musical talent in Tenerife, promoting it to residents and visitors alike. The organizers’ medium-term goal is to convert the south of Tenerife into the European capital of Jazz, so that the public can enjoy a wealth of culture, whilst the business sector will benefit from the positive economic impact.
The initiative is organized by La Asociación Cultural para la difusión de las Artes y las Músicas de Canarias (Registration number of the Register of Associations: G1/S1/16504-10/TF), La Asociación Cultural Teluricá (Registration number of the Register of Associations: G1/S1/23022-17/TF), and Arona Town Hall; the Economic Promotion Government Area, the Culture, Education and Transport Government Area and the Municipal Tourism Board. The festival also has the collaboration of the Walk For Life Foundation, AMAE Los Cristianos (the Academy of Music and Stage Artists) and various sponsors and collaborators from the private sector.
