Huge fire in bread factory in Las Chafiras

Update 8 November: Initial hypotheses by the Guardia Civil’s Fire Investigation Unit suggest that the fire started accidentally in the ovens¬†area. They say, however, that investigations will take a while, and as of yesterday, they weren’t even able to enter the building to check it visually. The bread factory has now been named as Atlantic Pan, in Calle Plasencia, and the company has guaranteed supplies thanks to factories of its associates¬†Europastry, Grupo Ingapan, France Frost and Vallecid on the mainland.

Update 7 November: Firefighters say that the fire is now under control, and that vigilance and control works continue.

Original post 6 November: A huge fire broke out shortly after 5pm this afternoon in a bread factory in Llano de Camello Industrial Estate in Las Chafiras. At present, the causes of the fire are unknown, but the massive blaze has been fought by over 40 bomberos with 10 fire engines. National Police and Guardia Civil have also been on site. I’ll post more as further details becomes available.

  1. Firstly I do hope no one was hurt and that they are well insured so that they can rebuild and get up & running quickly ~ all those jobs are much needed.

Secondly, I do like a well done loaf.. and my morning toast & marmalade yum so I might pop round!

Thanks for the quick input of information as always.
