King Felipe VI of Spain presents Princess of Girona business awards in Santa Cruz auditorium

Updated 7 March: The King has met a range of young entrepreneurs and business leaders during his visit to Tenerife for the Princess of Girona business prizes. The King himself presented the award to the winner of the main business category, José Miguel Bermúdez of Barcelona company Bound 4 Blue, for his project developing rigid wingsail technology for merchant vessels which is said to be set to revolutionise commercial sea transportation and save more than 25% in fuel costs.

The award was decided by a panel comprising businessman and Princess of Girona prize winner of 2016, Sergio Álvarez; the director general of Facebook España, Irene Cano; economist Fernando Fernández; director general of Endeavor España, Adrián García-Aranyos; businessman Bernardo Hernández; director of Twitter España, Pepe López de Ayala; and mathematician and economist César Molinas.

Original post 6 March: The King of Spain, Felipe VI, will be in Tenerife tomorrow to present the Premio Fundación Princesa de Girona Empresa 2018 in the Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín. The King will be at the Santa Cruz  from around midday to be the guest of honour at the awards, which are issued by the Princess of Girona Foundation to recognize and encourage young business people involved in a range of discplines, including social, artistic, scientific and commercial enterprises.  The King will also visit a young people’s business development workshop also being held in the auditorium.

King Felipe was in Tenerife back in 2015 to open a new telescope at the observatory, and again last year with Queen Letizia for their first official visit since his coronation.
