The announcement of the concert was made by Santa Cruz mayor José Manuel Bermúdez, Tenerife Turismo councillor Alberto Bernabé, and Alfredo Luaces, director general of the Fundación CajaCanarias, which is promoting the concert. Bernabé said that it was high time Tenerife left behind the lack of great concerts in the island, and said that tourism and quality music spectacles clearly had a close relationship.

Mayor Bermúdez recognized that putting on the concert represented a challenge for his city but one that it was more than able to meet, being familiar with putting on great shows like carnivals. Luaces, for his part, said that buying the tickets for the concert was a great way to bring 2016 to a close, and that Tenerife would make sure that Aerosmith’s farewell tour would come to a fitting close here in this island.
