Adeje’s new ITV (MOT) centre now open

Update 22 November: And it is now open to the public. The centre has 3 inspection lines and 8 inspectors.

Update 11 October 2011: As ever in Tenerife things take a bit longer than anticipated, but this new ITV centre in Adeje should be in operation before the end of the year. So says the Canarian Government’s director general of Industria, Juan Antonio León Robaina. The new centre will supplement those already in the municipalities of El Rosario, Los Realejos, Arafo and San Miguel, and will have three inspections lines equipped with the latest technology. PV

Update 13 June 2009:The location of Adeje’s new ITV (MOT) centre, due to open early in 2010 (23 May post, immediately below), has now been announced as the Barranco de las Torres, the area where Mercadona and the new Adeje Farmers’ Market are situated, and the location from next year too of the new Lidl superstore. Adeje Ayuntamiento will give a lease until 2034 to the company licensed to carry out the inspections, Applus Iteuve Technology, S. L.

Original post 23 May 2009: Adeje will have its own ITV (MOT) centre by the end of the first quarter of 2010. The announcement was made by the Canarian Government’s Director General of Industria, Carlos González. The new centre will benefit all motorists based in the west coast area, and will save them the journey to the saturated centre in Las Chafiras, presently the only one in the southern part of the island.

    HERE is Adeje’s ITV station. Top right is an option to change language (including English) and a link to make an appointment through the site. There is an appointment system but you can also just turn up and wait your turn. If there’s space they’ll fit you in.

    (If you have a problem getting the link to work, just take the “s” off the “https” at the start of the URL – they have a site security certificate issue but the site itself is completely safe).
