I’ve been asked several times about the parking meters in Los Gigantes, which seem to have been out of action for some time, and now police have confirmed that from this last Monday, 6 June, a solution has been found to the technical problems with the meters and the service has been restarted in the “blue zone” in C/. Flor de Pascua and Avda José González Forte.
Meters can be fed with 50 cents pieces, or €1 or €2 coins, and tickets must be placed in a visible place inside the car: drivers have an hour and half, after which the car must be moved, with coins returned when the driver comes back.
Between June and the end of September, the service will operate Monday to Friday 9am to 1.30pm and 4.30 to 8pm, and Saturdays 9am to 1.30pm. After 8pm and on Sundays and fiesta days, the meters won’t be in operation. Between October and 31 May, the timetable is Monday to Friday 9am to 1.30pm and 4 to 7.30pm, and 9am to 1.30pm on Saturdays. Disabled vehicles – with valid authorization (i.e. blue badge) displayed – are exempt from the meter charges.
