I think we’ve all heard of Los Indignados now, the protesters who have been making themselves seen and heard in peaceful demonstrations throughout Spain, and in Santa Cruz as well.
Now, the collective of “indignados” in Tenerife are going to march through all the 31 municipalities of Tenerife between Monday 27 June and Saturday 23 July. They stress that this isn’t just a walk through Tenerife, but a real means of getting their message out there to everyone. The march itself forms part of similar demonstrations organized in various parts of the mainland.
So, at 8am on 27 June the march will leave Plaza de La Candelaria in Santa Cruz heading for San Cristobal de La Laguna. It will continue through the following days through Tacoronte, El Sauzal, El Ravelo, La Matanza, La Victoria, Santa Úrsula, La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de La Rambla, Icod de Los Vinos, Garachico, Los Silos, Santiago del Teide, Chío, Guía de Isora, Adeje, Los Cristianos, Arona, San Miguel, El Médano, Granadilla, Arico, Fasnia, El Escobonal, Güimar, Arafo, Candelaria, Caletillas, La Esperanza, Sobradillo, Taco, La Cuesta and back again to Santa Cruz.
People are encouraged to join the march at any stage, and the organizers emphasize the friendly and peaceful behaviour that they hope all participants will show throughout the demonstration. The video below shows the route, and there is a fully detailed and interactive website dedicated to the march HERE with maps, itinerary, general advice, and the above poster in full size to print off.
