Major pipe breakage sees Icod without drinking water

Update 13 January: Icodemsa says that repairs are now completed and that full water supplies have been reconnected throughout the areas of Icod affected by the broken pipework, and that barring unforeseen circumstances, everyone should have clean drinking water again by this morning. The company apologises for any inconvenience.

Update 12 January: Icodemsa says that water supplies will be cut again from 2pm to install new piping in the La Candelaria area of the town. The company apologised for any inconvenience yesterday, and for any further disruption to supplies today for necessary repairs.

Update 8pm: Icod Ayuntamiento says that the serious problem with the drinking water supply has been partly resolved, and that they hope to get the whole municipality resupplied this evening. There will be another interruption to the supply, however, tomorrow around 2pm to carry out further works on the system.  The council asks residents to fill containers with water because it’s not clear at present how long the works will take. Again, the council and Icodemsa apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Original post 11 January: Icod Ayuntamiento has announced that due to a major pipework breakage, large parts of the town and surrounding areas will be without drinking water from this lunchtime. The council apologises for the inconvenience and says that repairs are already underway. There will be water tanks for public supplies in the meantime.
