Man arrested for kidnapping victims at gunpoint in Costa del Silencio for their Bitcoin

An Italian man is under arrest after taking a couple as hostages at gunpoint in Costa del Silencio for €12,000 in bitcoin. Police say that the incident happened in the early hours of yesterday, Good Friday, and involved the attacker requiring his male victim, also Italian, to transfer the virtual currency while keeping the woman, said to be Brazilian, tied up and threatening to kill her if the transfer was not done correctly. Details are sketchy as to how the police were notified, but thanks to coordination between the Guardia Civil and Arona Policia Local’s Crime Prevention Unit, the man was arrested before he could leave the couple’s dwelling. Thankfully both victims are unhurt, apart from suffering shock from the attack, while their assailant is now being processed by the judicial authorities.
