Man drowns at Playa de los Roques, Fasnia

A 45-year-old man drowned this lunchtime at Playa de Los Roques, Fasnia. Emergency services say that they were called out shortly before 2pm with reports that a person was in difficulties in the sea and that another bather was trying to assist. Resources were dispatched including a GES helicopter which located the swimmer but found him to be in cardiac arrest. As a result, the helicopter landed on the nearest available spot, a road parallel to the TF1. Sadly, however, resuscitation attempts carried out by helicopter and ambulance crew failed and the man was declared dead at the scene. The swimmer who tried to help him was fine, mercifully suffering just a few cuts and bruises. It’s winter, and the seas are not calm. And they’re cold. Please be careful, and have a look HERE.
