Couple hand themselves in after stabbing restaurateur in Abades

Updated 11 December: Police have confirmed that an Italian couple have handed themselves in and admitted the attack of the vicim, in whose restaurant one of them is said to have worked before being dismissed without compensation. The pair have been processed by the Courts, and the man has been remanded in custody while the woman was released on bail, though her passport was confiscated. The injured man remains in hospital, his injuries including a punctured lung, but his condition is said not to be life-threatening.

Original post 9 December: A 41-year-old man was stabbed in the chest while he was on a public street in Abades yesterday lunchtime. Emergency services say that they were called out around 1.30 with reports of the attack in Avda de Ocira, and paramedics stabilized the man at the scene and then transferred him to Candelaria Hospital where his situation is said to be serious. The Guardia Civil is investigating the incident.
