Bodies of two homeless men found in Santa Cruz in less than 24 hours

A 60-year-old man’s body was found just before 8am this morning in the Plaza del Príncipe, in the centre of Santa Cruz. The poor soul was an indigent who always slept there, and who had suffered from increasing health problems, recently having had a leg amputated. It appears that gangrene had spread to his hands, however. Emergency services attended the scene but they could nothing for him other than confirm his death.

The find comes just 24 hours after the body of a 50-year-old homeless man was found in the capital, near the Heliodoro Rodríguez López football stadium. Others who sleep rough in the area say that this is a grave and growing problem, with increasing numbers on the streets, and many of them among society’s most vulnerable. PV
