New access restrictions for Teno Rural Parque as summer traffic exceeds forecasts

The Teno road has had its problems, including a major rockfall a couple of years ago that closed the road entirely, and now the Tenerife Cabildo has introduced new restrictions due to unforeseen summer traffic. The Cabildo says that all forecasts indicated in its Guidelines for the Use and Management of Teno Rural Park are being exceeded, and so these measures will restrict traffic on the TF445 between Buenavista del Norte and the Punta de Teno lighthouse.

No vehicles will be allowed into the area without authorization between 9am and 8pm on Mondays and Thursdays until the end of September. On weekends the barrier will be lowered at 9am on Fridays to allow traffic and replaced at 9am the following Monday. From 1 October to the end of next June, no vehicles will be allowed to enter the area between 10am and 7pm on Mondays to Thursdays, with weekend access between 10am on Fridays and 10am on Mondays.

The restrictions do not apply to taxis, emergency vehicles, vehicles transporting boats, cars with disabled badges, and bicycles.
