From November the Canaries will have even better ferry connections with the mainland with the opening of a new route run by Fred Olsen and Baleària. The new service, Canary Bridge Seaways, will see two ships cross three times a week between Santa Cruz and Cádiz or Huelva, accommodating foot passengers, goods and vehicles.

Baleària president Adolfo Utor said that the joint service represents an opportunity for both companies which operate in different areas, but which share a dedication to providing clients with excellence: we face this new challenge together with a great company, Fred. Olsen, and we do it with optimism, convinced that the best is yet to come in our joint future”, he said.

General director of Fred Olsen Express, Andrés Marín, said that both companies were committed to offering a quality and service throughout the whole of Spain, changing the face of shipping in Spain, and not only on this route. Prior to the service starting, Olsen and Baleària are working to integrate their systems to facilitate ticket reservations through both companies’ usual portals.

  1. Hi,

Do you know where we can get further information on the schedule and costs, as we have tried Fred Olsen and Baleària websites and cannot see anything?

    Thank you,

The route has only been announced today. It will appear on Olsen and Baleária websites in due course. I’ve removed your personal contact details for security since comments are public.

  3. As we do do the route to Huelva quite often this is great – just wish we could find more info for the November crossing , thx for the post

  4. Pity it’s not going to Malaga, much more goods traffic and passengers too.

  5. I would like to take the motorhome from Tenerife next May to the mainland ,but I cannot get a price with either Transmeditarean or FRS.es who have taken over the route to Huelva from Armas, I assume both companies are now waiting to see what prices and offers Fredolsen will charge on either route to Huelva or Cadiz.
