Updated 9pm, 31/3: The second patera has arrived at Los Cristianos with 30 on board. They are seven men, seven children, and 16 women. Two of the women plus one child have been taken to a medical centre for treatment for non-serious conditions, the rest are in good health.
Updated 6pm, 31/3: The first patera has arrived at Gran Canaria now as it’s confirmed that on board the two craft were 60 immigrants among whom were nine children, some just babies. The patera being brought to Los Cristianos has on board 25 men, three women and two babies of 12 and 16 months.
Original post 31 March: Another couple of pateras has been spotted today south of the Canaries. One, with 30 on board, has been taken to Arguineguín in Gran Canaria. The other, whose number of occupants is still to be confirmed, is being towed to Los Cristianos.
