One dead and two injured in head-on collision on TF1 near Granadilla last night

A 49-year-old man died and a man and woman were injured in a head-on collision on the TF1 last night. Emergency services say that they were called out around half past midnight to the incident in the Granadilla area which was caused by one car travelling in the wrong direction. Its driver had died while the 54-year-old man driving the car into which it had crashed received leg injuries in the incident: both men had to be cut out of their vehicles. Also in the second vehicle a 52-year-old woman sustained moderate chest and leg injuries; both she and the driver were transferred to Candelaria Hospital where she is said to be comfortable but the man’s leg injuries are serious. It is not yet clear that this was a kamikaze incident but a police investigation is underway.
